About John
John has been performing and teaching Classical Guitar since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) London, in 1984 with both an AGSM in Performance and AGSM in Teaching. During his time there, he was the recipient of the John Clifford Pettican Prize (1982) and the GSMD Masonic Lodge Prize (1983) both for performance.


Whilst living in London he worked with the Society for the Promotion of New Music (SPNM) which included performances at the prestigious Purcell Room on London's Southbank. He was also a part of Sir Peter Maxwell’s ‘Fires of London’ ensemble and has been recorded on a number of contemporary music albums including ‘Virages’ by Douglas Young. During this time he also worked for the ILEA teaching in schools throughout London.
Since moving to the East Midlands in 1988 he has developed and run a successful teaching practice and has taught many hundreds of students providing expert classical guitar tuition from beginners up to diploma level.
